Ultralights!

Ultralights are the most pure, fun flying form of aviation!  You have the fewest regulations of any form of aviation.

In the U.S., flying an ultralight doesn't require a license or a medical certificate of any kind, providing the aircraft meets the Federal Aviation Regulation called Part 103. Part 103 defines an ultralight as an aircraft that meets the following criteria:

Seats:                                                                                      1

Max. Empty Weight (Powered Aircraft):                       254 lbs

Max. Empty Weight (Unpowered Aircraft):                  155 lbs

Max. Fuel Capacity:                                                             5 Gallons

Max. Speed @ Full Power:                                                55 knots

Max. Stall Speed (Power Off):                                          24 knots

You still need training to fly an ultralight.  The difficult part is there are so many different types of ultralight with very different flight characteristics!  We are in the process of putting together a program with a 2-seat LSA that will be a very good "average" ultralight platform.  Hopefully more news coming on that soon.  Contact us if you have any other requests at flyingknuckleheads@gmail.com.
